Change begins with you because, at ABB, you can bring green technologies to new heights.
Cochin International Airport is the first major airport in the world that runs entirely on solar power. When I joined ABB, I never expected to work on a project like this, something which is considered to be a key milestone in the solar power industry. As a project manager for solar inverters, I was involved in the process from the start to the final commissioning of the plant, which generates 12 megawatts of green power.
I love the culture of open communication, the support of my team, the excellent training opportunities and the personal and professional growth I have experienced. The ability to execute projects on tight schedules and the appreciation shown by satisfied customers is very rewarding. But what makes this project special is having the chance to demonstrate to the world that we can move from conventional power to green energy even in critical airport operations.
ABB is the market leader in the solar power industry in India, and the industry is growing rapidly. The government has announced plans to increase the country’s solar capacity from 4 gigawatts currently to 100 gigawatts by 2022. By contributing to green power generation on a large scale, we are helping to save the planet. ABB strives constantly to develop innovative solutions that transform the sun’s power into green energy. I am proud to be part of this process.

Jayaprabha started her career at ABB in 2006 as a project engineer in process automation. She first worked in the oil, gas and metal business, where she expanded her skills in project management, finance and communication. When she learned of a job opening in the solar business, she saw it as a great opportunity to put her skills to work and contribute to a greater good. Helping to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and thus contributing to a healthier environment are now her main motivators. When she is not working, she likes to read, listen to music and spend time with her children, supporting them in their studies, in art and sports.
